Most trainers typically provide a big box of books. Learning like this is dull and repetitive and not a very good way of achieving retention. Many studies have proved that long term memory is improved when we use all our senses, and we take action to use what we've learned.

Find a course where you'll receive a library of CD and DVD ROM's - you'll learn by watching video tutorials and demonstrations, and then have the opportunity to fine-tune your skills in fully interactive practice sessions. It's wise to view some examples of the kind of training materials you'll be using before you sign the purchase order. The minimum you should expect would be videoed instructor demonstrations and a variety of audio-visual and interactive sections.

You should avoid purely online training. You want physical CD/DVD ROM course materials where offered, as you need to be able to use them whenever it's convenient for you - and not be totally reliant on a good broadband connection all the time.

Microsoft indicates the operating system 'Windows' to most individuals who use computer systems. The term Office could equally spring to mind as many men and women associate the applications system with the company itself. 'Word' is Microsoft's word-processing program, familiar to many millions around the globe. Whilst 'Excel' is the most widely used spread-sheet and Access provides database capabilities to numerous organisations. For presentations, 'Office' provides the software application 'PowerPoint', which rounds off the main programs within the suite. They are namely Networking (and Server Operating-Systems), Databases (which encompasses Administration & Development) and Programming (and Software Development in Windows). Don't accept anything less than an accredited exam preparation programme as part of your course package. Make sure that the practice exams aren't just asking you the right questions from the right areas, but ask them in the same way that the proper exam will ask them. This can really throw some people if the questions are phrased in unfamiliar formats. Be sure to ask for testing modules so you can check your knowledge whenever you need to. Simulations of exams add to your knowledge bank - so you won't be quite so nervous at the actual exam.
